Neymar acquires the "Pelé" trademark - The legend's legacy enters a new era

One of the most powerful football brands in the world is changing owners. NR Sports, a company owned by the Neymar family, reached an agreement for the exclusive exploitation of the name and image of Pelé, for approximately 18 million dollars. With this agreement, the family of the Brazilian star takes over the management of the most recognisable commercial legacy in the country.

The acquisition is considered significant not only because of its financial scale but also because it paves the way for a comprehensive repositioning of the "Pelé" brand in the international market. After the death of the legendary footballer in 2022, his commercial exploitation had been limited, leaving a vast cultural and business capital untapped.

A new plan for the future of the brand

NR Sports intends to develop new products, collections and collaborations with major international organisations, giving new life to the brand. At the centre is the desire to tell Pelé's story to younger generations, combining the timeless value of the name with modern forms of branding.

The official presentation of the agreement is scheduled for 19 November - a date that coincides with Pelé's thousandth goal, lending particular symbolism to the announcement.

Respect for the history of the "King"

The Neymar family's company has already taken steps that highlight the importance of the legacy. With its own funding, Pelé's iconic suite at Santos's Vila Belmiro stadium was fully renovated and transformed into a space honouring the greatest player in the history of Brazilian football.

The agreement opens a new chapter: the name "Pelé" returns to the forefront not simply as a memory, but as a strategic commercial asset with global momentum.
